Adolescents & Young Adults
I had the privilege of spending over a decade working in what I lovingly refer to as the "trenches", otherwise known as public high school classrooms. It was during this time that I fell in love with serving children, teens and young adults. My students sought me out to talk about every issue under the sun (on a side note; I am no longer shocked or scared by anything!). I was blessed and humbled to have these same students continue to come back to talk years after their graduation as they faced issues that come with emergence into adulthood. I soon came to realize that I woke up every morning to stand with them and encourage them as they found their strength to overcome even the direst of circumstances. Now, in private practice I am able to take my furthered education and provide a more intense focus on helping those who recognize that they need assistance and are brave enough to step out and reach for it. My approach is largely Cognitive Behavioral, but no one technique is effective for everyone. Within identifying the proper approach for each individual lies the "art" of counseling.
